Creative Makers CIC provides specialist creative education and outreach services for primary, middle and secondary schools across Somerset and Wiltshire. We believe that creativity has the power to transform confidence, improve wellbeing and help every child discover their potential. Our work is rooted in outstanding arts and music education, inclusive practice and child-centred learning, creating opportunities that engage, inspire and support pupils of all abilities. Whether you are looking to enrich your curriculum, provide specialist support for vulnerable learners or develop exciting creative opportunities across your school, every programme is designed around the individual needs of your pupils and your setting.

SEND & Alternative Provision Creative Art and Music Outreach

Supporting children who struggle within traditional education is at the heart of everything we do. Our specialist outreach programme works alongside schools to provide high-quality creative education for children experiencing SEND, autism, ADHD, anxiety, emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), mental health difficulties or wider social, emotional and behavioural needs. Sessions are carefully planned around each young person, using creativity as a way to develop confidence, communication, resilience and emotional wellbeing while continuing to make meaningful educational progress.

Provision can take place within school, as part of a nurture programme, through small intervention groups or as individual support. We work with Primary and secondary settings, helping schools provide engaging educational experiences that remain ambitious whilst recognising that every child's pathway looks different. For older students, this support can include GCSE and A Level coursework guidance, portfolio development and creative mentoring, ensuring they continue to achieve academically whilst receiving the personalised support they need. We can offer a range of creative activities that can explore Art, Textiles, Photography, Graphics, Music tech, DJ skills. All materials and equipment are provided.

Specialist Creative Alternative Provision

Creative Makers CIC offers flexible alternative provision designed for young people who require a different approach to education. Our programmes combine high-quality creative learning with relationship-based practice, providing a safe, engaging environment where children can rebuild confidence, develop independence and continue making meaningful educational progress.

We currently offer two specialist settings, each providing a distinct learning environment to meet the needs of different learners.

Our outdoor creative provision, based at Witham Friary Quarry, offers a unique environment where young people learn alongside experienced youth workers and creative practitioners. Set within a converted quarry, this provision uses nature, practical projects and the creative arts to encourage resilience, teamwork, confidence and emotional wellbeing. It is particularly well suited to pupils who find traditional classrooms overwhelming, require time away from school, or are accessing education through an EHCP or alternative provision package.

From January 2027, we will also be offering our Creative Studio Programme based at Nunney Village Hall. This provision provides a calm, structured learning environment with a stronger focus on studio-based creative subjects, including art, textiles, photography, illustration and mixed media. Designed for pupils who benefit from routine, smaller groups and specialist teaching, sessions combine practical creative learning with opportunities to build confidence, improve engagement and work towards individual educational outcomes.

Both provisions are suitable for young people from Key Stage 2 through to Key Stage 5 and can be commissioned as part of an EHCP, alternative provision package, reintegration programme or preventative intervention. Every programme is personalised around the needs, interests and aspirations of the individual, ensuring that creativity becomes a meaningful pathway towards education, wellbeing and future success.

One-to-One Creative Mentoring

Every child learns differently, and sometimes the right support from the right person can make all the difference. Our one-to-one creative mentoring offers personalised, specialist tuition for young people who would benefit from additional guidance, whether as part of an EHCP, alternative provision package or simply to help them achieve their full potential within mainstream education.

For pupils with SEND or additional needs, mentoring provides a calm, supportive environment where creativity becomes a tool for building confidence, developing communication, improving emotional wellbeing and nurturing independence. Sessions can be tailored around a young person's interests and strengths, including fine art, photography, textiles, music technology and DJing, helping them engage with learning in a way that feels meaningful and achievable.

We also offer specialist tuition for GCSE and A Level Art, Photography and Textiles. Much like a maths or English tutor, our experienced subject specialists work alongside the school's curriculum, supporting coursework, portfolio development, technical skills and exam preparation. Creative subjects demand a significant level of independent organisation, research and sustained practical work, and many students benefit enormously from additional guidance outside the classroom. Our mentoring helps students stay motivated, manage their workload, refine their ideas and work towards achieving the highest grades possible.

Home-Educated & Home-School Workshops (coming soon)

We offer daytime creative workshops for home-educated children or those learning outside of mainstream education. These sessions provide structured, creative learning opportunities alongside social connection, delivered in small groups and at a gentle pace. Workshops are flexible and inclusive, supporting a wide range of learning styles and needs.

Staff CPD & Creative Curriculum Development

We understand that many teachers are expected to deliver Art or Digital Music across the curriculum without specialist training or dedicated subject support. With extensive experience leading Art, Photography and Textiles departments and professional expire in the music industry, we can work alongside your staff to develop confidence, strengthen curriculum planning and create engaging, ambitious art provision throughout your school.

Support can include curriculum development, medium-term planning, assessment, sketchbook progression, photography, textiles, artist research, DJ skills, Music tech overviews, project planning and practical classroom techniques.  Whether you are refreshing your existing curriculum or developing a new creative vision, we can provide tailored support that leaves staff feeling confident, inspired and equipped with practical strategies they can immediately implement.

Suitable for Primary and Secondary schools

After-School Creative Clubs

Our after-school clubs provide a calm, art-focused space for children to unwind at the end of the school day. Sessions are delivered in groups and are particularly supportive for children with SEN, anxiety or emotional needs. Children explore a range of creative materials and techniques while building confidence, creativity and positive relationships in a safe and nurturing environment. Art Holiday Camps

Our holiday art camps run during school holidays and offer full-day creative experiences in a relaxed, supportive setting. Each day focuses on a new creative project inspired by artists and creative themes, with children exploring painting, drawing, sculpture and mixed media. Camps are designed as stand-alone days, allowing children to attend one or multiple sessions, and all children take creative work home each day.
