One-to-One Mentoring – Arts & Music

Creative Makers offers flexible one-to-one creative mentoring and tuition for children and young people, with sessions shaped around the individual's interests, needs and goals.

One-to-one provision can be academic, skills-based or completely holistic. For some young people, it provides specialist tuition and an opportunity to develop their creative practice. For others, creativity becomes a way to build confidence, develop a positive relationship with learning and connect with a trusted adult in a calm, low-pressure environment.

Creative Subject Mentoring & Tuition

We can provide specialist one-to-one support for secondary and sixth-form students studying GCSE or A-Level Art & Design, Photography, Textiles, Graphics and related creative subjects.

Sessions can work alongside the young person's existing school or college course, providing additional time and individual guidance with areas such as developing ideas, practical techniques, experimentation, artist research, photography, portfolio development and coursework.

This can be particularly valuable for students who have creative ability but find it difficult to organise their ideas, sustain focus or translate what they want to achieve into their coursework.

Individual Creative Learning

One-to-one sessions aren't just for students working towards qualifications. We also work with home-educated children and young people who simply want to develop their creative skills.

Sessions can be designed around the individual and may include drawing and painting, photography, textiles, illustration, graphics, digital media, mixed media and other creative practices. Young people can explore several disciplines or develop a longer-term project around something they are particularly interested in.

Neurodivergent & Individualised Mentoring

For some neurodivergent young people, including those with autism, ADHD, SEND, anxiety or barriers to accessing group provision, one-to-one support can provide the environment they need to engage successfully.

There doesn't always need to be an academic outcome. Creative mentoring can be used to support confidence, communication, emotional wellbeing, engagement and positive relationships, with the young person's interests providing the starting point.

We also accept one-to-one referrals from schools, local authorities and other professionals, and provision can be developed around individual outcomes, EHCP targets or a wider education package.

Music Technology & DJing

Our one-to-one provision also extends beyond the visual arts.

Young people can access individual mentoring in DJing, music technology and creative music, whether they are complete beginners or want to develop existing skills.

Working individually gives young people time to become comfortable with the equipment, explore the music they enjoy and develop practical skills at their own pace. As with our visual arts provision, sessions can be skills-focused or used more holistically as a way to connect, build confidence and re-engage with learning through a genuine interest in music.

Enquire About One-to-One Provision

There is no single format for our one-to-one sessions. Provision can range from individual tuition or occasional mentoring to regular sessions forming part of a young person's wider educational programme.

If you're a parent, carer, young person, school or professional interested in one-to-one provision, please send us an enquiry with a little information about what you're looking for. We'll get back to you to discuss the young person's interests and needs and explore what Creative Makers could offer.
